SUMMARY:

I swear, my life was always totally normal.

Normal house, normal family, normal school. My looks are average, I don't have any superpowers, no one's showing up to tell me I'm a princess—you get the picture. But when my junior year started, something not normal happened. There were new kids at school . . . new kids with a wardrobe straight out of a 19th-century romance novel, and an inexplicable desire to stay at school until sundown.

And on top of that, James Hallowell showed up. James, who stole my sandwiches in fourth grade and teased me mercilessly through middle school. James, who now seems to have the power to make my heart race any time he comes near.

But something weird is going on. Because James rarely goes out during the day. And he seems stronger than your typical guy. And he knows the new kids, all of whom seem to be harboring some kind of deep secret. . .

MY THOUGHTS:

I have waited forever to read this book after seeing so many reviews on it, and I have to say that it was worth the wait.  This is the authors first book, but you wouldn't know it by the writing that was printed on the pages between two gorgeous covers.

Sophie is an investigative reporter for her school newspaper.  When she is handed the assignment to interview the new group of kids at school, she finds out more than what she bargained for.  To add to the mysterious friends who have arrived in her school, her friend James arrives back in town at the same time after moving away long ago.  What she discovers though about them all is the fact that they are vampires and determined in finding a special girl who is attending the school.  When she discovers that James is also a vampire now, she struggles with her crush on him and whether or not he is the same James from before on the inside.

Yes, the book is predictable and cliche, but I found myself enjoying the writing so much that it didn't even bother me.  I loved the witty banter between everyone and the romance between  Sophie and James was sweet and fun.  I wanted more romance between the two, but the author balanced it out well enough to keep the reader happy by the end.  I loved Violet and her crazy ways of trying to fit in by using tons of teen magazines as guides.  The other were okay, but I found Violet to be the best of the bunch.  Vlad was just mean and nasty and I couldn't wait to see what would happen to him and if Sophie would be the one to do it.

I do hope that the author plans on writing a sequel to this book because some things were not finalized in the story.  Yes, you are left with a finished book, but you can't help but wonder on a few things and it leaves it open for a sequel.  Plus, I need more James and Sophie, so please Ms. Robinson---keep the books coming!

MY RATING:

Very Good! I would recommend this book!
