Quickie Blog Tour with Tessa Dare and Contest!

EDITED TO ADD:
The contest is now closed!!!
Winner is: Daph

***************************************

Today I am hosting the very talented Tessa Dare for a quick tour.  It is actually part of a progressive tour going on all day at different blogs at different times!  Tons of prizes to be had readers!!!

Don't forget to enter the contest for a $75 Watermelon Festival Edible Arrangement found at the bottom of the post!

Now on with the show and meet the main characters from A Lady By Midnight, Kate and Thorne!

SUMMARY

A temporary engagement, a lifetime in the making...

After years of fending for herself, Kate Taylor found friendship and acceptance in Spindle Cove--but she never stopped yearning for love. The very last place she'd look for it is in the arms of Corporal Thorne. The militia commander is as stone cold as he is brutally handsome. But when mysterious strangers come searching for Kate, Thorne steps forward as her fiance. He claims to have only Kate's safety in mind. So why is there smoldering passion in his kiss?

Long ago, Samuel Thorne devoted his life to guarding Kate’s happiness. He wants what's best for her, and he knows it's not marriage to a man like him. To outlast their temporary engagement, he must keep his hands off her tempting body and lock her warm smiles out of his withered heart. It's the toughest battle of this hardened warrior's life...and the first he seems destined to lose.

*************************************************

Kate: Oh, what a lovely blog, Thorne. It’s called My Overstuffed Bookshelf. Look all those beautiful books.

Thorne: What does she do with them all?

Kate: Read them? Just guessing here.

Thorne: *shrugs.*

Kate: For those catching, up, first we decided strong, silent Thorne needs a meme to make him cuddlier. At our second stop, we tried out a few famous memes for size. That didn’t go so well. But now I have a new idea!

Thorne, grumbling: Brilliant.

Kate: Have you seen these e-postcards? So much fun! You can create your own at the Some Ecards site.

Thorne: I don’t think I will.

Kate: But others might like to. And look, I made bunches. I’m going to tell the story of our courtship in postcards. Here you are, in your militia uniform, foolishly pretending that you care nothing for me beyond what’s required by duty.

Thorne: That is not me. What is with that hat?

Kate: Never mind the details. Here’s the second one, where you’re pushing me away to “protect” me.

Thorne: I don’t appreciate those quotes around “protect”. I was trying to protect you, no quotes about it. And that vest…? The ponytail? I can’t even.

Kate: Oh, hush. We’re getting good now. Here’s where you’re kissing me and pretending it will never, ever happen again. But I knew it would.

Thorne: At this rate, this is going to take all day.

Kate, riffling through cards: You were rather stubborn, but my main concern is that these cards are about to become rather NSFW.

Thorne: NSFW? Should I even ask?

Kate: Oh, Thorne. You don’t need to ask. NSFW is your normal state. And upon reflection… (blushes deeply at one particular image) Right, I think we need to find something more wholesome. Don’t miss the next stop… Kate and Thorne’s meme struggle takes a furry twist at the Avon Romance blog at 3PM EDT!

Feel free to play around on the Your E Cards site and have fun making your own!

Amy, thanks so much for hosting!

And I should explain - there's a book-related reason for the watermelon fruit arrangement. If you've read the book, you'll know why. "The two of them, against the melons of the world..."

But even if you haven't read the book yet - who doesn't love fresh fruit? I have received one of these arrangements before, and they are the BOMB. (no pun intended.)

Good luck, everyone!

The best gift I ever got was my kindle followed by giftcards to get more books.

I love the postcards telling the story. I know I'm asking a lot here, but is Thorne going to loosing up on this blog tour. I think it's hilarious that he's being a stick in the mud. Just wondering.

Mom and I are both Nora Roberts fans. I " introduced" her to Nora's books. The best gift that I've ver given just because was autographed books by Nora Roberts (including JD Robb books) for each book released over a two year period. I knew Mom really appreciated them.

The best card I ever got would be when my boyfriend bought me a Valentine's Day card. I know its not a just because, but he NEVER buys cards and if he does they are so far from romantic or sweet its not even funny. But on our 3rd Valentine's Day he got me one of those GIANT cards that had two adorable kittens on it kissing (I'm a wannabe crazy cat lady I only have one kitty but I'd love many more) and the card basically said how amazing and special I am. It was the sweetest thing ever coming from a guy who only goes into the Hallmark store when I drag him in.

My husband lost his job a couple years ago and during that time we were both very stressed about making ends meet. A cousin of mine sent us a sweet card and a little gift card to Subway to let us know she was thinking about us, and wanted us to have a meal out with no stress. SO sweet!

Oh, wow. I can't choose the best because they really all are the best, if that makes sense! The first "just because" gift that came to mind is when my bestie gave me a Star Trek board game. I love Star Trek XD

A "just because" gift I gave out, well, I like making gifts... XD

I know this one! It's easy! I won a Kindle from Grace Burrowes and told her to gift it Bethanne Strasser, a mother of FIVE with a hubby in the Army! We were talking about heroes, and even though I never met this chick, or talked to her before, I thought she was as much a hero as her DH! That made me feel very good;D

Thanks for the prize!

When I had to have my beloved golden retriever put to sleep, my heart was broken. I cried for days. Then one day in the mail came a card from the veterinarian's office with a note of condolence and signed by all of the employees of the office. I was so very touched by this gesture. I have since found out that this is a fairly common thing to do and I so admire doctors who do this. Bless them.

The best cards are when something sentimental is written instead of just relying on the scripted text.

Congrats on the recent release Tessa! This tour is fabulous. Love the memes and e-cards :) My blogging half and I like to send each other 'just because' gifts. We live literally across the country from each other (west/east coast) so we send each other books from conferences we've attended separately or a new release 'just because'.

Oh I forgot! My best gift:

Hubby surprised me with a bottle of ZOMBIE Bacardi! (for my zombie awesome collection you know...)

Right? Diamonds... Meh, hubs learned long ago than "fun & out of the blue" presents make me SO MUCH more happy than jewelry and crap I never wear!

The best present I recieved just because was when my friend sent me the DVD of all the episodes of Three Rivers (A CBS drama that went off the air after one season) a few months ago. We were both fans of the show and she managed to track the DVDs down and set me one. It was so sweet and thoughtful of her!

Then there was the time I recieved an ARC in my e-mail. Not going to name names ;) but it was pretty awesome and fantastic! :D xoxo

"I love you Mom" card just because.. or maybe because she won't talk to me and I'm getting tired of it. So, be the better person and send a card.

I used a "call me maybe" by carly rae jepsen lyrics and put my number on the card...

In recent memory, the best 'gift' I've been given happened on my birthday this year.

When I reported to work that day, I have balloons, flowers and a singing bday card waiting for me. That alone kept me smiling all day. When I came home, a very nice surprise bday party was waiting for me! I didn't know that dear husband collaborated with my in-laws, who are from Canada and were in town for a visit. Few, chosen friends were there to celebrate a milestone and I feel blessed to live another decade! ;-)

Oh there was also a pretty little box with a bracelet that I had been eyeing!!

I love sending my friends "Happy Flowers" when I think they need cheering up. They are little plastic flower pots with a daisy and two green leaves that 'dance' when sun shines on it. I get the sweetest responses from those I send them to. They love watching the flower dance and it makes them smile.
Have seen the fruit bouquets and love the way they look, but never received one.

Way too funny!

When I moved away for college, my grandmother used to send me cards, catching me up on what was going on, and telling me how proud of me she was and how much she loved me. It was like she always knew when I was feeling my most homesick.

These comments are lovely to read! What a wonderful list of inspiring, thoughtful, romantic, kind-hearted, and generous gestures. Thank you all so much for sharing - it's really making my day.

I have received some truly lovely "just because" gifts at book signings! Like, for example, Viking cakes, tastykakes, and origami goats!

Love the e-cards! My favorite cards are when my kids just decide to make me something. About a year ago, my youngest made a card for me that said "I love you because you love me". It was so sweet. I still have it hanging up by our bed.

I was doing a play in college, a mainstage show rather than a student-directed one act (I was the QUEEN of the one acts), and I was actually onstage for a couple of scenes rather than working backstage.
I didn't expect any opening night goodies or flowers from anyone, I was just excited to be a part of the production.
I'm getting dressed, getting my hair greyed and my old face put on when my friend Nikola pops into the girl's dressing room holding THE most beautiful bloomed rose I had ever seen. I totally thought it was going to be for someone else, but I nearly ruined my old face by crying when he gave it to me. He told me that he'd stolen it from his neighbors bushes JUST for me, and to break a leg.

He's been my favorite ever since.
